So what about the notion of genius? Is there such a thing? Is genius innate? Can it be learned? Is it boundless passion and deliberate practice or simply a gift? Better yet, what defines genius? They say Darwin didn’t possess an extraordinarily high IQ and Stephen Hawking won’t even divulge his, saying the IQ measurement as we know it holds no bearing. Imagination, creativity, inspiration, perspiration - how can we measure the key ingredients that must be present in order for anyone to achieve greatness? The word itself - genius - originates from Greek mythology and refers to a guiding spirit everyone had. It wasn’t until much later it took on a definition of exclusivity.
